Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she gained recognition. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound and her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. The following year, her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to sign with Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video followed by a music video in September. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. On the 13th of November, two brand new singles titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on the 16th of November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released for the song. It already has over three million hits on YouTube in its initial week. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
